Food miles are so low at the Minskip Farm Shop that you can see vegetables growing in the field in front. Happy chickens scratch around in the field out back laying golden-yolked eggs and you can see pigs, goats and alpacas year-round. The animals are free to visit and dogs are welcome outside.
Third-generation pig farmer Ben and novelist Emma took the reins in 2017, turning this popular farm shop into a true food hub. They stock a wide and local range of fresh and store-cupboard products, 96% of which come from within a 30-mile radius. Goodies include cakes baked with home-grown eggs, jams from Bessie’s Yorkshire Preserves, bread from the nearby village, Whixley pork pies and mackerel from Mackenzies Yorkshire Smokehouse.
