Smack bang in the heart of the Fonthill Estate, this first-rate café-restaurant is the second labour of love from Bird & Carter founders, Joff and Annie.

Surrounded by mature trees and with a spacious stretch tent for summer shade - with sheepskin rugs and candlelit lunches for the colder months - it’s the perfect setting to relax after a long walk through the estate. A seasonally shifting menu showcases the efforts of trusted producers across the region, from Wiltshire game to Mere trout.

Leisurely lunches, homemade baguettes and sausage rolls to go are on offer and informal coffee and cake fly-bys are positively encouraged. Book onto a highly anticipated 'Friday Late', where a three-course menu is delivered under a canopy of twinkly lights. Sundays are dedicated to lazy brunches and Bloody Marys.

Stylish rooms are found above the main buildings and face the river-garden, so guests can roll out of bed for a Bird & Carter breakfast.
