A303

Langport belongs to Somerset’s trendy renaissance. It’s a pretty town with a long history and a raft of independent shops. Kitchen at The Wharf is by the river at the bottom of the high street in an 18th-century old dockside warehouse once used for trading goods from around the world.

This roomy light-filled café with sunny riverside terrace is popular with locals and visitors alike. Bare floorboards, exposed brick and beams with grey painted walls give it an urban vibe and sets off its relaxed friendly feel beautifully. Food is hearty and seasonal: full English breakfasts, homemade quiche, summer salads, sausage and mash as well as homemade pastries and cakes to die for, not to mention their locally-roasted barista coffee.

There’s a toy box for kids, treats for well-behaved dogs, a puncture kit and bike racks for cyclists, and they’re part of the Positive About Breastfeeding Scheme.
