A friendly welcome awaits you in this village tearoom, once you have located it behind the car showroom and convenience store. Retro tables and chairs are painted in bright hues, a sofa area invites the weary to put their feet up. Cheery staff serve tables with a constant stream of light bites, afternoon teas and simple lunches. Seasonal salads, breakfast favourites and selection of sandwiches and paninis, are all on the menu along with homemade milkshakes, made from clotted cream ice cream. There is also a children’s menu for smaller guests.
But it is the cakes that have people queuing up here, particularly on a Friday when the ‘cake of the week’ is revealed. Friday or not, there is always a counter full of creative cakes to tempt you, best washed down with one of the 24 loose leaf teas served in teapots with hand knitted novelty tea cosies. Customers can also indulge in a glass of prosecco or one of The Tea Cosy’s specialty, tea-infused gins.
