You won’t find a quirkier place to stop for a bite than an 1880s railway carriage and old double-decker bus. Now transformed into a café, the train carriage with its communal tables is joined by an ivy-strewn marquee to the double-decker bus, which offers sunny table upstairs, cosy corners below and spectacular countryside views. Outside, there are picnic benches for summer months and plenty of grass for little feet to run around on.
Menus change daily depending on what can be harvested from the fields, which means abundant organic salads in summer, and warming comfort foods with a twist in the colder months.
Don’t leave without stocking up at the award-winning Trading Post farm shop next door. It offers a cornucopia of local fare and natural whole foods: pickles, smoked fish, eggs, cheese, homegrown veg, organic wine and fresh-cut flowers.
