A12

Emmett’s has traded in Peasenhall since 1820. Do take a moment to enjoy this pretty village with its fine old Suffolk houses. Emmett's has an excellent reputation for local Suffolk ham and bacon and recently celebrated its 200th anniversary.

The small café - with coffee, tea and cakes served all day - makes a memorable breakfast stop. The home-cured ham, free-range bacon and egg or the Spanish equivalent – egg, chorizo picante, tomato and orange – are all delicious. For lunch the generous English, Italian and Spanish charcuterie or cheese platters are perfect with a glass of wine. The shop retains some original fittings and has beautifully presented fresh fruit, cheese, Sri Lankan chutney and Suffolk apple juice. There’s a distinctly Hispanic feel with Spanish olive oil, almonds and honey.

On his TV show, chef James Martin said of Emmett's; 'There's bacon...and then there's bacon!' while This Morning's Philip Schofield said it was probably the best bacon he'd ever tried. See if you agree.
