A14

Johnson’s is a family farm with a difference, on the outskirts of Huntingdon. It’s not only home to a peaceful tea-room, fabulous farm shop and lip-smacking steak house, but also a tropical house, home to the family’s collection of crocodiles, turtles, snakes and iguanas. But don’t worry, you’ll also find the more usual farm animals around too. Try the woodland walk to see the surrounds for yourself and learn more about the sustainable farming methods, which are impressively carbon neutral.

A quick raid of the farm shop - set around a beautiful, covered courtyard in the old cattle shed - should restock your cupboards in full with pork pies, pasties and bread from the bakery, local fruit and veg, 50 varieties of cheese, home-cooked meats, antipasti, scotch eggs and corned beef. Don’t tell the kids, but you can buy crocodile steaks from the butchery counter; with a strong farm to fork philosophy, nearly all the meat on sale is home reared.

The tea-room serves traditional cooked breakfasts and hot and cold lunches, along with homemade cakes and scones.
